The bids are now in for the fund launched by the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Thames Valley, Anthony Stansfeld, aimed at organisations who can assist him in achieving key aims in his Police and Crime Plan.
Up to £400,000 of grant funding is available and the PCC is looking to fund around 6 – 8 medium sized projects which can deliver against some of the PCC’s strategic aims. These are
Vulnerability
- Better understanding by police and partners of the extent and nature of elder abuse, followed by positive action taken to address the issues uncovered.
Reducing Re-offending
- A review by police and other criminal justice partners on whether processes for identifying and referring individuals in contact with the criminal justice system into substance misuse services are as effective as they could be.
- Improved data sharing on gangs, with the aim of reducing exploitation of young people through gang membership and reducing and preventing violent crime, especially knife crime.
- A modern offender management strategy for Thames Valley addressing gaps in existing schemes and tackling offenders across the crime spectrum who pose the greatest risk or threat of harm.
Serious Organised Crime and Terrorism
- Better engagement and information sharing between police and organisations supporting vulnerable migrants and rough sleepers, with the aim of preventing exploitation by organised criminals.
Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld said “This fund looks to address a range of areas from my Police and Crime Plan, all of which are priorities in terms of keeping our communities safe from crime and protecting those most vulnerable.
“The successful delivery of my Plan is dependent on working with partners. I know there will be organisations across the Thames Valley well placed to make a difference in addressing these areas and I hope opening up this fund to statutory and voluntary organisations will support this”.
