Advice about protecting yourself from cyber crime and who to contact if you fall victim.
Following the cyber attack on Friday 12 May 2017 which has affected many organisations worldwide, including the NHS in the UK, Thames Valley Police are sharing advice from the National Crime Agency and National Cyber Security Centre.
There are steps that you can take to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of cyber attacks, including malware and ransomware:
- Make sure your security software patches are up-to-date.
- Make sure that you are running anti-virus software.
- Back-up your data in multiple locations, including offline.
- Avoid opening unknown email attachments or clicking on links in spam emails.
