grants

Community groups and parish councils have just a few weeks to apply for district council funding to help pay for improvements to their village halls, sports facilities and community projects.

The deadline is 6 June for organisations to apply for capital grants from the Vale of White Horse District Council. The same deadline applies for their New Homes Bonus grants which prioritise projects in areas which have seen an increase in new homes and population.

Last year the Vale of White Horse District Council provided more than £380,000 in grants which helped fund community projects in the area including play equipment and even one which involved moving electricity pylons to create a recreation ground. There is also a separate grant scheme offering money for community events and festivals.

Cllr Alice Badcock, cabinet member for community services for Vale of White Horse District Council said: “We are delighted that we can help so many local groups make improvements in their towns and villages and support their local residents. If you work in a community group, charity or parish council, get in touch with our Grants team to see how we could help you.”
